on "the rhetorical situation" (ethics ... ??)

Japanese Tsunami as a Bitzerian Rhetorical Myth from Alonzo Riley on Vimeo.

For more work problematizing Bitzer's "rhetorical situation," see Steve Krause's dissertation excerpt. See "Ch 1" for detail. Does this sort of thinking help you in developing your project? If so, how? If not, why?

Jenny Edbauer (Rice) has argued the value of Bitzer's model. In particular, she helps us see how complexly we *might* consider the traditional sender-receiver-text "triangle" by thinking in terms of the relations and networks that comprise "rhetorical publicness."
